Built in 1844, Susannah Place is a terrace of four houses located in the heart of The Rocks. It is evidence of the richness of community life that existed in The Rocks. Its modest interiors and rear yards illustrate the restrictions of 19th century inner city life. The original brick privies and open laundries are some of the earliest surviving washing and sanitary amenities remaining in the city. Susannah Place’s recreated turn-of-the-century corner shop sells goods from that era.
