Here’s a “cool” looking house which signifies tropical Queensland – it is called “Queenslanders”. Although many fine Brisbane buildings went under the wrecking ball during successive surges of development, Brisbane managed to retain many of the old “Queenslanders” – shady wooden homes built on stilts to maximize the circulation of cooling air. There were no such thing as air-conditioning in the old days. |
